The jigsaw puzzle was invented in 1767 by a teacher in England. He pasted maps of Europe on wood then cut them out to teach children geography. About 1870 the interlocking jigsaw puzzle was introduced. In 1880 Milton Bradley introduced the first jigsaw puzzle just for kids. It was a picture of a locomotive cut into several pieces.
